How do I find an activity?

There are 2 different searching options to look for particular activities, in the “Search Page” or within the “Activity Catalogue”.

What are the different kinds of activities?

The Following learning activity types are available:

General Practice Cases

General Practice Cases focus on a patient presentation in which, depending upon the scenario, learners make differential diagnoses, order and interpret appropriate tests and plan management of the case.

Interactive case studies take approximately 20-60 minutes to complete. These cases are supported by photographs, test results and audio/video.

These can be done by individual learners, by a supervisor and registrar working together or as an activity for a small group. General Practice cases incorporate a number of elements from the 5 Domains of General Practice.

MCQ’s (Multiple-Choice Questions)

These activities contain at least 25 MCQ’s with instant feedback; these activities include updated material from the CheckUp2 Series on CD

Presentations/Short Lectures

They consist of a presentation by a speaker with slides and audio.

Case of the Month discussions

Each month a Medical Educator provides a specific case discussion on a discussion board. Users can read colleague thoughts and management, then reply by posting messages.

Examination Practice

These are timed activities providing questions and feedback.

Text based modules

These activities are text based and require users to complete activities online but also access references and /or video materials that are sent with enrolment.

How to see the activities I have Enrolled in?

Most activities recognise your answers and participation within the activity itself. For example, within a Multiple Choice Question activity, you need to answer 80% of the questions correctly to earn QD-CPD points.

To assist you in knowing if you have enrolled in an activity, go to your ‘my progress’ screen on the left hand side of the screen, and go down to the section ‘Learning Activities in Progress.

Within this section, you will see:

  • Which activities you have enrolled in;
  • The date you enrolled in this activity;
  • A link to launch into the enrolled activity

Above is an example of how this section appears within your ‘my progress’ screen.

How do I know how many points I have earned?

To Track how many QACPD points have been accrued by using gplearning, you can look at the PD (Professional Development) Viewer, which is located at the left hand side of the screen.

What is the PD Viewer?

The Professional Development Viewer (PD Viewer) is a tool created to help you in planning your continuing professional development(CPD) or when preparing for the RACGP examination

The content on this web site is catalogued against the Domains of General Practice and Priority Learning Areas from the RACGP Training Program Curriculum 1999. The PD Viewer helps you to ascertain whether you are achieving a balanced coverage of the Domains and Priority Learning Areas.

The PD Viewer:

  • graphs your coverage of the Domains and Priority Learning Areas for the activities you have completed on this web site
  • shows the total estimated time you have spent on activities you have completed on the web site
  • shows the total number of activities you have completed on the web site
  • shows the number of QA&CPD points you have earned for activities you have completed on the web site
  • lists activities that you may enrol in to achieve coverage of a particular Domain or Priority Learning Area
  • allows you to book mark activities you might want to enrol in later by adding them to your favourites list appearing in the activity catalogue or 'my progress'.

To Print your progress, there is button located in the middle of the page, above the professional domains key (as shown in below diagram). Simply press once to print.

How do I use the PD viewer

You can use the PD Viewer to:

  • Track your online points in gplearning
  • Identify topics you have not covered
  • Identify domains of general practice you have/haven’t covered
  • Find activities which relate to specific topics or domains of general practice.
How do I print my Progress from the PD Viewer?
